About Palace on Wheels:-
The Palace on Wheels, the most luxurious holiday train,
began its operation in October 1982. As per its name, the
Palace on Wheels provides a life and journey that is reminiscent
of the royal kings and nawabs. The atmosphere and the treatment
on the whole together take the passengers back into a time
when luxurious lifestyle of the kings districted them from
the common people. Every need - basic or luxury- was available
before the kings could even blink their eyes once. Today,
the Palace on Wheels recreates the magic of this bygone
era for the tourists who wish to experience firsthand the
royal treatment accorded to the royal people.
One of the ten best trains in the world, the Palace on
Wheels takes tourists to explore the royal splendor of the
Rajputs in the state of Rajasthan for seven nights and eight
days. The luxury train boasts of 14 coaches named after
former Rajputs states - Kota, Jaipur, Udaipur, Jaisalmer,
Jodhpur, Bikaner, Alwar, Sirohi, Kishangarh, Bundi, Dungarpur,
Bharatpur, Jhalawar and Dholpur. Initially, the coaches
used in the trains were the original ones used by the royal
families of Rajasthan. However, gradually they were replaced
by an exact replica. The advantage of the replacement was
that the new coaches not only looked like the original ones
but could also accommodate the latest technology gadgets.
As a consequence, tourists get to enjoy all the splendour
of past combined with modern technological advancements.
The Palace on Wheels is high on demand; hence, tourists
are advised to make their bookings well in advance. The
best season for a journey on the Palace on Wheels is between
the months of September to April. The train usually travels
in the night and allows the passengers to complete their
sightseeing during the day time.
